The tenor Terje Andersen was born in Oslo and studied in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at the National Opera Studio, and subsequently in Milan with Franco Corelli.
At the GSMD his roles included MALE CHORUS (The Rape of Lucretia), LE CHEVALIER (Les Dialogues des Carmelites), DON EUSEBIO (L’Occasione fa il Ladro) and LE TERRIER (L’ Enfant et les Sortileges).
Concert work includes the World Mass for Peace, written and performed for the Nobel Peace Prize, with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy, the Verdi Requiem, Gounod Mors et Vita, Mendelssohn’s Elias, the Bach Weihnachts Oratorium, the Mozart, Dvorak and Lloyd Webber Requiems and the Rossini Stabat Mater.
Operatic engagements include debuts at the Norwegian State Opera in the role of TAMINO (Die Zauberflöte), the Staatstheater Stuttgart as MACDUFF (Macbeth), English National Opera as NEMORINO (L’ elisir d’amore) and a prestigious debut at Glyndebourne Festival Opera as GABRIELE ADORNO in the new production of Simon Boccanegra under Mark Elder. As a member of the Städtische Bühnen Münster, he sang TAMINO, FROH (Das Rheingold) , CAMILLE DE ROSSILLON (Die lustige Witwe) and EIN PIEMONTESER (Der Friedenstag). His debut as ALFREDO (La Traviata) was on tour with Welsh National Opera.
He made his debut at the Royal Opera Stockholm in a Gala concert in memory of Jussi Bjoerling and sang PINKERTON at both the Stadttheater Klagenfurt and the Theater der Stadt Koblenz.
Latest engagements have included CAVARADOSSI (Tosca) at the Festungsspiele Ehrenbreitstein, MACDUFF (Macbeth) for the Singapore Lyric Opera and both RODOLFO (La Boheme), PINKERTON (Madama Butterfly) for the Royal Swedish Opera Stockholm, LYONEL (Martha) for the Anna Livia International Opera Festival and RINUCCIO (Gianni Schicchi) at the Theater Lübeck. DUCA (Rigoletto) and SOU CHONG (Land des lächelns) at the Stadttheater Koblenz.
